For nearly two decades, I have worked with families who lost loved ones on Air India Flight 182 to bring their stories into Canadian public consciousness. Despite the scale and impact of the tragedy, it remains insufficiently understood, with limited public awareness and relatively little scholarly attention. This absence—along with the Canadian government’s slow and uneven response—has made it all the more important to create spaces where the experiences of the families can be shared and meaningfully heard.
Through research, teaching, and public engagement, I seek to convey the grief, anger, activism, and enduring sense of injustice felt by the families.
Students have also played a vital role in this work, consistently motivating me through their empathy, curiosity, and commitment to engaging with the tragedy and its ongoing significance.
