In early June 2025, a group of alumni from R.D. Parker Collegiate, in Thompson, Manitoba, met to remember and honour their classmate, Rahul Aggarwal, victim of the Air India Flight 182 tragedy. A plaque now hangs in the high school, commemorated in Rahul’s memory by his peers.

Rahul Aggarwal was a member of R.D. Parker Collegiate’s Class of 1979. He was travelling on what would have been his first trip back to India since his family’s immigration to Manitoba, 14 years prior. Friend Murray Thompson described Rahul as a community builder through peace and diplomacy, who was an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, and always ready to help others with their studies. Having just graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Master’s degree in political science, Rahul was planning to work as a diplomat and dreamt of becoming an ambassador.

During their visit to R.D. Parker Collegiate, the group of alumni spoke to students about the Air India Flight 182 bombing and Rahul’s memory. “He is well loved and always remembered,” wrote Murray Thompson.
