Angus Reid Institute Surveys

Angus Reid Institute surveys from 2023 and 2025 reveal that the vast majority of Canadians have limited knowledge of the 1985 Air India bombing.

June 21, 2023 – Angus Reid Institute study finds that nine-in-ten Canadians have little (61%) or no (28%) knowledge of the 1985 Air India bombing, with three-in-five (58%) of those younger than 35 saying they have never even heard of it.

June 22, 2025 – On the 40th anniversary of the Air India Flight 182 bombing, Angus Reid Institute survey finds that about one-in-five (17%) Canadians are able to identify the bombing as the deadliest terror attack in Canada. Despite knowledge of the terrorist attack being low, two-thirds (66%) of those surveyed support Canada incorporating the tragedy into school curricula, while seven-in-10 (71%) would create an exhibit in the Canadian Museum of History.
